3 Steps to Calm, Compassion & Family Connection During Overwhelming & Uncertain Times

Is this your life right now?

You have 2 minutes to prepare for your next Zoom meeting, and you’re feeling worked up from a heated exchange with your family.

You and your kids are over virtual school.

You lie awake, wondering…When can we safely visit my parents?…Are the kids wearing masks when they’re with their friends? …Are my kids okay mentally? Are they getting dangerous amounts of screen time?

Your family is on top of one another and it’s not going well.  There’s no place to escape.

You can’t meet your own high standards at work or at home and you’re beating yourself up over it.  You feel overwhelmed and inadequate.

How long will this go on?

This is daily life right now, and each of these stressors tests our limits.  Worry, fear, disappointment, overwhelm, irritability, and self-judgment weigh us down.

When we stay stuck here, it not only bogs us down, but also spills into the family dynamic, provoking unintended negative consequences.

What if you could learn 3 simple skills that would help you shift at will out of stress and negativity into a more positive, calm and “can-do” part of yourself?

Are you at your personal or professional best when you’re pushing through your day with feelings of stress, frustration, anger, and self-criticism rearing up?

Nobody is.

While these emotions are “normal,” they’re not optimal and you don’t have to stay mired in them.

Research in neuroscience, positive psychology, and performance science reveals there are simple practices we can use to shrink the impact of negative thought patterns and step more often – and more quickly – into a better version of ourselves.

In our live workshop

We’ll tell you what these 3 simple practices are and how to begin applying them right away.

Join us and learn how to bring more joy, connection, and calm to family life even when you are facing some of the biggest stressors life can throw at you.  Hope to see you there!

Valerie Lingeman, M.A., PCC

Half-way through my 25 year career in the Intelligence Community, I found my calling coaching and developing leaders and teams.  Since 2010, I’ve had my own coaching/consulting firm and the privilege of supporting clients who are committed to bettering themselves, their leadership, and the organizations and communities they care about.  I work with leaders at all levels, from CEO’s and flag officers, to aspiring leaders. I’m passionate about helping people and organizations learn, because learning keeps us vital.

I’m excited to bring this work to families because most of my clients are raising children or caring for their parents.  Learning to connect, trust, and relate positively is a skill set that transcends the office and the family room.

I live in McLean, Virginia with my husband Chris and our two teen-age sons, whom I count on to keep me laughing and humble.

Wendy Reed, CPCC

I am a certified life and mental fitness coach who works with private clients to help them develop the insight and mental muscles needed to identify and overcome obstacles holding them back — at work, school, home, and in relationships. I work mostly with adults and young people who struggle to find the confidence or motivation to act on what they want, and who want to show up more often for themselves and others at their best.

Introduced to people and cultures around the world thanks to the nomadic life of a military brat and another two years teaching in Japan, I have now lived in Arlington, VA for 20+ years.  I live with my husband and “tweenage” daughter and spend as much time as possible with them, especially in nature.  I consider myself a student of life, committed (some might argue addicted) to learning, growing and sharing tools and insights along the way.
